INTRODUCTION
Lithium Extraction
Most of the world’s lithium reserves are found in natural saltwater brine deposits. We are targeting subsurface brines using modern Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology.
Technologies used for DLE can be broken down into the following categories; Ionic, Nanofiltration, Osmosis and Membranes The selection of the appropriate technology for any given resource includes many factors, not least the suitability of the process for the specific chemical composition of the brine being produced.
The historical extraction process for extracting lithium requires large evaporation ponds covering many thousands of acres, is environmentally destructive, unsightly, slow (as much as two years), and is impacted by adverse weather. The process suffers from low recovery rates (typically no more than 40%), product purity issues and is ill suited to many of the new brine discoveries required to reach EV and battery storage targets.
Modern DLE extraction technology enhances Lithium recovery rates to 80-90+%, improves economic returns & project feasibility, reduces time to first production and limits environmental impacts when compared to traditional extraction methods. Three Leading DLE technology partners shortlisted.
